Employee Spotlight: Ryan Darr
Even after nearly 20 years at CSTK, Ryan Darr still enjoys the challenges that come with being a mobile service technician.
“I love the freedom of being in a service truck – getting out in the field, working outside, and meeting people. In this position, you are constantly learning new things. It’s challenging, but in a good way. Of course, the Thermo King units have gotten so reliable over the years, you don’t get nearly the number of after-hours callouts that you used to. Seeing the technology improve has been something else.”
CSTK Service Manager Brian Weise certainly appreciates Ryan and his contributions. “Our customers know that if they need service, Ryan will be there. If something goes wrong, Ryan is on the case. His expertise and dependability are second to none.”
“CSTK has been a great place to work,” Ryan adds. “I went to school for HVAC at Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) and was working at a produce warehouse. One day, a CSTK technician came by, and I just happened to have a resume sitting in my truck. So, I gave it to him, and pretty soon started off in the apprentice program doing Thermo King Installs. I’ve got to give credit to Steve Musko, who took me under his wing, showed me all the secrets, and made me the tech I am today. My 20th anniversary at CSTK will be in April of next year, and I’m grateful for all the people I’ve met and gotten a chance to work with. It’s a great career if you decide to get into it.”
